Caveat Emptor

FIRST: Aidan Ritchie has some GREAT advice about TROMBONE SCAMS and how to avoid them!

There are many marvelous resources online that did not exist when I was learning how to play. However, a little caution is in order.

One can hear a plethora of performances by world-class players and ensembles online. Be sure you are listening to truly great examples. See Steal Them Blind.

There are many great lessons and masterclasses available. There are some not-so-great ones. Remember, All Roads Do Not Lead to Rome and Pedagogy is Not Theology.

There are lots of products – and instruments – for sale online. Some are worthwhile – some are bargains – and . . . some are SCAMS! If it is an amount of money you can’t afford to gamble with, something like “Venmo Goods & Services Payments” is worth considering.

See About Equipment and Supplies, Accessories, etc.

The advice of a teacher can be invaluable in separating the wheat from the chaff.
